Miyacozome is a range of dyes by Katsuraya Finegoods, established in 1890 in Japan. This polyestyer dye has acquired the ECO PASSPORT from OEKO-TEX®, meeting their criteria for ecologically responsible textile and leather manufacture.

This polyester dye can be used in synthetic as well as natural fabrics, and of course on wigs. Each box contains:

  1. 20g polyester daye
  2. 20g dye accelerator
  3. Full instructions in English

You will not need anything else for the dye bath (no salt or detergent). You will need to use detergent to fully wash off the excess dye afterwards so that it will not cause transfers.

As with all polyester dyes, this dye needs to be used on a stove top to help it maintain sufficiently high temperature. In our tests using our own white wig samples, we find that the colours are picked up very easily and you should not need to keep it heated for more than 5 minutes for full colour intensity. This timing will vary depending on the material you're dyeing.

As a general guide, one box should be enough to fully dye a short wig. The product photos show the results using the dilution ratio suggested in the instructions. On our white wig samples, we find that:

  • Yellow has an orange hue. A very brief dye results in a peachy colour.
  • Brown is a reddish brown.
  • Navy, if dyed for only a short time, has a grey hue.

Results do depend on a large number of factors: temperature, dye dilution, amount of fabric/wig, length of time and more. We highly recommend testing with scraps or colour samples before committing your actual fabric or wig.
